Aim of the tournament

  1. The Warsaw Go League is aimed at activating the Warsaw community of go players and enabling regular ranked games to be played.

Rules of the tournament

  1. The tournament will be played in the McMahon system over 5 rounds, with a time per game of 1 hour + 3x 30 seconds byo-yomi (category A according to EGF)
  2. The final order of players in the tournament is determined by the following parameters in order: McMahon Score, SOS, SODOS
  3. Games are played under Japanese rules, with a komi of 6.5 points.
  4. Time to play a round is two weeks. Each round starts on Friday and lasts until midnight on Thursday falling two weeks after the start of the round.
  5. Pairings will be made on the first day of the round (i.e. Friday) and made available on the tournament website.
  6. It is the players' responsibility to make contact to arrange a date to play.
  7. The organisers will provide participants with a list of all players' email addresses on the day the tournament starts.
  8. The organisers will make equipment available at the club's meeting place during the tournament.
  9. If a game is played elsewhere than at the club meeting place, the players are responsible for organising the equipment (board, stones and clock).
  10. At the request of the players, the organisers may lend them playing equipment. In this case the players are obliged to return the equipment to the club meeting place before the next club meeting.
  11. Notification of the results is made by sending an e-mail to warszawskaligago@gmail.com by the player who won the game no later than midnight on the last day of the round.
  12. The player has the possibility of missing as many rounds as he wishes. In this case the player must notify the organisers before the start of the next round.
  13. The notation of the game is not required, but the provision of such a record together with the result will allow its publication.
  14. If both players agree, the game may be recorded by electronic means.
  15. The games must be played live - it is not possible to play the game online.
  16. League games are submitted to the EGD ranking system.

Unplayed game

  1. In the event that one of the players cannot attend any of the club meetings during the round and another game date has not been found, the player in question loses the game.
  2. In the event that both players are unable to attend the same club meeting during the round and have not found another game date, such pairing may be removed and treated as both players skipping the round.
  3. Players are obliged to inform the organizers of the situation as soon as possible.

Participation rules

  1. By registering for a tournament, a player agrees that his/her name, surname, club/city, country, EGD profile and ranking will be made public on the list of tournament participants.
  2. By registering for the tournament, the player agrees that his/her image (photos, video) may be recorded and used by the tournament organiser (website, social media profiles, etc.).
  3. The player agrees that their behaviour will ensure a friendly, safe and welcoming atmosphere for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ability, ethnicity, socio-economic status and religion (or lack thereof).
